Thinking of Pete Seeger’s legacy today, and so grateful for the gentle courage, vision and consistency that was such a necessary interruption in the corruption and inequality in our country over so many decades. He could address so many issues of inequality and injustice and have them feel harmonious through his songs. He played the banjo, what’s better than a banjo.
I sang & played “Where Have All the Glowers Gone” at a play when I was 16. I intended to play the Joan Baez version at the Just The Tip soundclash and hand out flowers at the end of my set but my time was cut short… Also I rocked countless shows with Rebel Diaz asking the pertinent question with the sample of his beautiful voice “Which Side Are You On?”
I lived in Beacon a year and felt his contributions through his festival and sloop club, and am grateful for his activism to clean up the Hudson River, polluted by toxins buried by General Electric.
Reading this article, it makes me sad to see how the red scare of last century marginalized so many great people. The article doesn’t mention his support of an Israel boycott.
Pete Seeger was top 40 in the 60s. Damn, my generation has a lot of work to do… let’s stay focused and inspired.
Thank you Pete <3 Have a Blessed Homecoming <3
I am grateful for this new year, new moon, and each new moment, and the next and the next…
So grateful for my supportive, wise, talented and fly fiancée who I can’t wait to marry in June!! Thanks for helping me bring in the new year doing what I love.
The year of the horse is almost here, symbolizing freedom—feeling a big theme of courage, authenticity, people power. So much history to create in this year and I feel so blessed to be alive during these times of great change and awakening. Happy 2014 everyone, may the spirit of divine creativity bless you and all that you touch!
God is love, no metaphor
I love you!
It’s beginning to look a lot like… Wait what? Happy #WinterSolstice from Miami, one of my favorite days of the year! On the shortest, coldest, darkest day of the year, it is a time we turn inwards and to each other to remember the Light within us. The sun is reborn and it just gets lighter from here on out. Many of the Pagan winter solstice traditions, indigenous to Europe, have since been attributed to Christmas. However you look at it, is so natural for us to celebrate the light, family and each other at this time of the year. Last year’s solstice was a much talked about alignment (only 26,000 years), and it’s powerful to reflect back on this past year of a New Age, and to recharge and recommit to being the change we wish to see in the world. Also Venus is in retrograde so we have an extra opportunity to remember how loved and lovable we are.
A “new year” is approaching and many people are feeling listless, like maybe they haven’t accomplished everything they wished to or don’t know what to do next. Many people at facing difficult health challenges. Although the advent of the new year is such a beautiful opportunity to begin anew, it also is a bit arbitrary and can lead to beat up if we feel we haven’t “done” as much as we feel we “should”. In this time of great awakening and evolution every single one of us have chosen and created the perfect circumstances for our souls to grow and for us to come into the highest awareness and authentic expression of ourselves. This is a level of progress we can’t measure through common means (awards, money, outward accomplishments, etc). However, after those internal breakthroughs we have the clarity and extra focus to bring our unique soul gifts into the world and create abundance for ourselves and our communities on all levels! We always have the opportunity to begin again, we are blessed by so many natural cycles. The cycles of the moon, the direction East. I have read that the Vernal Equinox used to be celebrated as the new year in Europe, until the implementation of the Gregorian calendar. People who still celebrated the new year in March were ridiculed and called “April Fools”. Just another example of how indigenous traditions all over the earth, including Europe, were wiped out and people were belittled and forced to forget their ways.
Lots of thoughts from me this day… To be continued in this “new year”! That is my resolution, to put my thoughts into words. Thanks for reading and a happy, light-filled and blessed solstice to you and yours

#wcw of course #selena #selenaquintanilla 1971-forever! My muse, my inspiration, is an angel in heaven. I’m so grateful she shared this earth with us for a time and for what she has proved as possible through her life. I’m grateful to be alive, to have this opportunity to be and create in my own way, witnessing her example of the difference one person can make in the world. Sending big abrazos to all Selena fans everywhere, keep reminding the world what talent looks like. “Always think the impossible is possible” Selena. Amor y fe 🌹
